About Us

The Richmond Public Schools Education Foundation is managed by a Board of Trustees and works closely with the elected School Board and the Richmond Public Schools to support their efforts to provide educational excellence to the children of Richmond, their families and the broader Richmond community.

The Foundation targets efforts not covered by existing public funding.  By offering donors an effective way to support ongoing efforts identified by the Superintendent, the Foundation works to improve the quality of life throughout our community.  Tax-deductible donations to the Foundation may be provided to support specific programs or as unrestricted funds that the Foundation will use in its three priority areas:

  • Student Success
  • Teaching Innovation
  • Advanced Education

Richmond Public Schools is diligently working to increase student retention and on-time graduation rates.  To support this effort, the Foundation is seeking support for the Middle School Renaissance program which focuses on enriching the learning experience both during the school day and after school through instructional support and experiential activities.

The Foundation's inaugural event is the Pride of RPS: Living Legacies Breakfast to be held on May 4, 2012.  This event will honor the outstanding achievements of select Richmond Public Schools alumni.  Honorees will be recognized for their professional, business, academic, and/or philanthropic accomplishments.  Each one exemplifies the RPS mission – to lead extraordinary, honorable lives as inspirational leaders.
